Abstract :
In this paper the performance of feed-forward amplitude gain estimator techniques for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) utilising multilevel modulation is considered. Based on the split-symbol algorithm and the nonlinearity algorithm, the techniques operate on a number of frequency domain symbols in one OFDM symbol to estimate short term amplitude gain. Application of these techniques results in a efficient bandwidth transmission, reduced complexity system and, due to its feed-forward feature, a fast estimation period. The performance evaluation has been carried out by computer simulation over a frequency selective channel with AWGN, and compared for several estimation symbol lengths
