Abstract :
Summary form only given. This paper describes the Academy for Excellence in Engineering Education, USA, which offers many programs to enhance the educational experience for engineering students. Various efforts are now in place to assist the student, the graduate teaching assistant and the engineering educator at the University of Illinois. In an effort to improve instruction, educators from all disciplines of engineering are invited to participate in a teaching college, a place for educators to learn more about themselves and what changes might need to be made in order to improve instruction. The assessment center approach to faculty assessment is one of the important innovations from the Academy for Excellence in Engineering Education to aid in the assessment of engineering educators participating in the teaching college.
