Abstract :
We demonstrate the use of 2D photonic band gap (PBG) structures such as mirrors for in-plane microcavities, refining previous results for longer 3 μm cavities. These structures are an in-plane version of popular vertical microcavities. PBG structures are etched into a GaAs-AlGaAs laser-like heterostructure embedded with self-organised quantum dots (QDs)
