Abstract
In this paper it has been shown that, under H or He irradiation, metallic nanoinclusion (NI) formation takes place in the YSZ matrix . The oxygen depletion of YSZ subsurface layers is explained from the point of view of irradiation stimulated diffusion of oxygen to the surface with subsequent sputtering. More effective NI formation in the case of H irradiation as compared with He-irradiation happens due to the bigger ionization cross-section of H ions
