Abstract
This paper describes the design and implementation of a Web-based telelearning system. It uses multimedia and object-oriented DBMS techniques to design and implement the underlying information system, and Web and Internet technologies to deploy its applications in a platform independent manner. The system provides an adaptable, interactive, multimedia learning environment. Courseware documents are build dynamically on the fly, by integrating query processing with dynamic HTML generation. Furthermore, the system provides SMIL (Synchronized Multimedia Integration Language) enhanced Web courseware presentation and real-time media content delivery to users.
