Abstract
We present an analytic study on a parametric control of solitons using a cw beam by varying the amplitude and the frequency of a cw beam. We develop a new analytic method of solving the nonlinear Schrodinger (NLS) equation using a “matrix potential” and derive an exact solution of solitons in a cw background. The velocity of solitons are obtained explicitly in terms of the soliton and the cw parameters and the parametric control of the velocity is explained in detail
