Abstract :
Generation adequacy evaluation techniques have shifted from being deterministic to probabilistic in order to realize risk based indices that recognize stochastic system behavior. Many system planners are, however, still uncomfortable with probabilistic risk methods and are reluctant to apply them. This paper describes a new approach known as the system well-being approach which incorporates conventionally accepted deterministic criteria in a probabilistic framework. The paper illustrates the practical application of the new techniques using a software tool designated as SIPSREL.
