Ferric coagulant has been applied in waste water treatment because of its high charge and safety. In this paper, it was investigated that the characteristics of ferric chloride(FeCl3) on phosphorus removal from the secondary effluent of AB process municipal wastewater treatment plant. The effect of coagulant dosage, pH and other factors on phosphorus removal was studied The results showed that when the pH value of water was not adjusted,, by increasing the FeCl3 dosage from 30mg/L to 75mg/L, the total phosphorus of effluent was reduced from 4.92mg/L to 0.44 mg/L. The TP concentration of effluent could achieve the standards of ´Discharge standard of pollutants for municipal wastewater treatment plant´GB 18918-2002 1 Grade A (TP <;0.50mg/L).
