Abstract :
Three known diketopiperazine alkaloids (1-3) were isolated from the EtOH extract of sea star Pentaceraster chinensis during our ongoing search for bioactive compounds from starfish. The structures were established on the basis of NMR data and comparison with those reported. Compounds 1-3 exhibited weak antibacterial activity against the Gram-positive bacterium Staphylococcus aureus, and compound 3 still showed weak antibacterial activity against the Gram-negative bacterium Escherichia coli in vitro.
