Abstract :
A novel approach to dynamic scheduling in LAN-based message-passing parallel architectures is described. This approach, called cooperative self scheduling, allows the parallel application designer to control the scheduling of the processes in the application while still allowing the operating system to manage competing requests for resources. A set of primitives that allow communication between the operating system and the parallel application is provided
