Abstract :
We have developed unique pressure sensitive materials with good mechanical properties and durability which show a gradual change in electrical resistivity with applied pressure. Various amounts of carbon particles were dispersed in a Si rubber matrix to understand the effect of volume fraction on the percolation threshold. Nano-sized Al2 O3 particles were dispersed to investigate their effect on resistivity and to improve the mechanical properties of the composites. Finally uses of the materials as pressure sensors in electrical applications is recommended
