Abstract :
Many flexible surfaces test as well as solar sail, bridges, dome of structures were important for healthy monitor. This paper presents a novel approach to the problems and we designed a passive smart structures test system using fiber Bragg grating (FBG) sensors which are embedded into the flexible surface with the technology of the smart materials and structures. The FBG interrogator demodulates the sensors´ wavelength shifts that are converted into curvature. We also use a novel algorithm for surface reconstruction based on the curvature information. The reconstruction algorithm is a recursive computation according to geometrical conception of the curvature. The experiment results demonstrate that the system could test the surface vibration.
