Abstract
In October 1997 a Government appointed Committee on preparing an eventual law on continuing education finished its work by presenting its proposal to the Secretary for Education. This proposal, together with the hearing comments, will form the basis for a Law Proposition, eventually to be presented to the National Assembly before 2001. In this paper, some of the viewpoints of the Committee with a special emphasis on the future role of universities and colleges are presented and discussed. As concluded by the Committee, these institutions and their adaptability to new conditions are the keys to the eventual success of the proposed reform.
