  • Abstract
What if your factory is already running quite well but you wanted to stretch its performance even further? What if you were not allowed to spend money to do it and you had to give up 15% of your staff at the same time? How would you enlist the help of the workforce? This paper describes the strategy, execution, and results of the efforts toward meeting such a challenge at Intel´s Fab 20, in Hillsboro, Oregon, USA. This factory was able to significantly improve its performance through a well-managed yet simple behavioral approach, and won the prestigious Intel Quality Award as a result of their efforts. The size of Fab 20 is ~30k wafers/month and ~1500 total employees
