Abstract :
The present work shows a distinct comparison between wavelet packet transform (WPT) and discrete wavelet transform (DWT) for quantization of power system harmonics. The analysis has been carried out on two sets of actual tested waveforms obtained using power quality analyzer. The results obtained using WPT and DWT are compared with IEEE Standard 1459-2000 based values and percentage error has been calculated for the individual parameters in both the cases. This study recommends the use of DWT as more suitable and efficient over WPT for analysis of power system harmonics.
