Abstract :
This paper studies an electromechanical actuator for active lateral suspension in a rail vehicle. It is suggested how the trade-off between size, heat and bandwidth should be managed in order to get the best possible overall performance. A prototype actuator, constructed from the described principles, is demonstrated
