Abstract
InFORM, a microcomputer-based utility subsystem, uses the system capabilities and programming environment of WordPerfect to convert scientific study data that have been electronically captured as ASCII files into formatted camera-ready tables suitable for publication. To evaluate the accuracy and efficiency of the utility subsystem, manual processing was compared with InFORM for three types of data: tabular numeric data, tabular alphanumeric data and alphanumeric data blocks. InFORM increased processing efficiency for each category tested. When compared with manual data entry and `cut-and-paste´ techniques, InFORM demonstrates a productive cost-effective method for producing `camera-ready´ data tables
