Abstract :
This paper presents an object-oriented software under development at the Electrical Engineering Department of PUCRS (Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil). It is based on the finite element method and aims to support the teaching of electromagnetics and other related disciplines such as electrical machines, transformers and energy conversions. The paper also presents the basic structure and the main capabilities of the several modules of the software together with the major academic and learning expected results, which can be obtained using the software. Typical academic and practical cases where it can be applied are shown and commented upon
