Estimation of Driving Safety from On-Board Captured Scene by using Probe Image Database

In this paper, we propose a concept of probe car based safety information system. Largely, it is composed of five parts such as scene analysis, knowledge acquisition, knowledge sharing, prediction and estimation, and presentation. One of the most fascinating features we are aiming at is the capability to predict appearance of pedestrians by applying some statistical methods to the database of scene descriptions. Although this concept is under investigation, we will introduce the key technologies to approach it and show some experimental results.
