Across the United States, females are grossly underrepresented as engineering graduates and professionals. A 2011 study by the American Society for Engineering found that women accounted for only 18% of undergraduate students in engineering. In the workforce it?s even lower. According to 2013 data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor and Statistics, women make up only 14.1% of the engineering workforce.
