Abstract
The primary thesis of this position paper is that it is mandatory to experiment with executable process models in order to obtain user feedback, to identify requirements on architectural components to support such models, and to investigate the impact of automation in the process itself. This paper briefly describes three generations of investigations with respect to the formalizing, modeling, and encoding of software lifecycle processes. Providing for executable processes has been one of the most important goals of this work.
