Abstract :
The energy power system expansion demands an accurate evaluation of system behavior in the case of a possible fault. This may lead to a readjustment of the security equipment for the capacity constrained elements. This paper examines how a three phase short circuit fault at a distribution line (400 kV) near one single shaft combined cycle power station, influences the power generator operation. The study of transient calculations focusing on specifying the time clearing time period in which the generator remains in synchronism without exhibiting pole slipping following the three phase short-circuit at the distribution line. Moreover the maximum and steady state short circuit currents for a three phase short circuit fault in different location of the network are estimated
