Abstract
The practical FDTD analysis of personal communications devices requires simplified models of antenna excitation. The paper reviews the existing models and proposes a new improved one based on a thin feeding TEM line with a square cross-section and modal template termination. The new model ensures excellent accuracy of return loss extraction even at coarse discretization, and competitive speed in calculating antenna efficiency
