The microstructure and regulation of mobile data service market

Data service is the trend of future telecommunications industry and its new business model has brought about a great challenge to existing telecoms regulation regime. The overview of the two-sided market theory has been studied. Then this paper puts forward that both securities market and data service market are typical two-sided market. Base on the specific feature of two-sided market, the paper provides an analysis the mobile data service market, builds a bridge between mobile data service market and securities market, and constructs the regulation framework of mobile data service market combining the experience in securities market. It is shown that we should establish the role of operators as regulatory agency and make a reasonable division between the functions of telecoms regulator and operators.
