Abstract
Scattering by a circular dielectric or perfectly conducting cylinder of any radius and any height in a rectangular waveguide oriented perpendicularly to the wide wall is considered. The electromagnetic field is represented by cylindrical eigenfunctions of the waveguide and dielectric medium, and the boundary conditions problem is solved strictly. Computed reflection and transmission coefficients are compared with the experimental results. The algorithm can be used for measurement purposes and the development of microwave devices
