Abstract
Compton scattering of a laser beam and an electron beam in an accelerator has been used to generate an x-ray or gamma-ray beam at many facilities. To study the spatial, spectral and temporal characteristics of the Compton gamma-ray beam, we developed a 4-dimensional (3D space plus time) Monte Carlo computer simulation code (MCCMPT) to model the Compton scattering process. This code has been benchmarked against the measurement results at the High Intensity Gamma-ray Source (HI¿S) facility at Duke University.
