Abstract
Low-frequency electrical noise measurements of bulk YBa2Cu3O7 are reported for samples that were prepared by oxalate precipitation. The resistance versus temperature curve for these materials flattens into a pronounced `tail´ just before the samples become fully superconducting. 1/f noise appeared high on this resistive tail. The normalized noise level showed a peak right at the top of the tail, then gradually decreased as the temperature was increased towards room temperature. A second peak occurred around 200 K. Noise levels were significantly higher in a 5.07 g/cm3 sample than in a 4.44 g/cm3 sample
