            Abstract :
We describe Cybersar, a new computational infrastructure for research developed in Sardinia as a part of a program funded by the Italian Ministry of University and Research for a National Grid Computing Infrastructure. The aim of Cybersar is to support innovative computational applications by using leading edge hardware and technological solutions and to provide an experimental platform for research on the enabling technologies that will power "Next generation" cyber-infrastructures. Cybersar network infrastructure is based on an optical network backbone connecting computational sites that host the project resources. Cybersar main grid infrastructure is based on gLite, a middleware developed within the framework of the European EGEE (Enabling Grids for E-sciencE) project, thus guaranteeing a high level of integration with the National and European Grid communities.
