A new N-cinnamamide derivatives GUAN 1001 (N-(3-hydroxypropyl)cinnamamide) was tested the forced swimming test and the tail suspension test for antidepressant activity in mice. The forced swimming test(FST) and the tail suspension test(TST) showed that GUAN-1001 was found to be better active and reduced the duration of immobility time by 23.36 % and 18.97%, respectively, at a dose of 10 mg/kg compared with the control (p <; 0.01 and p <;0.05). And it was observed GUAN 1001 at dose of 10, 20 and 40 mg/kg significantly reduced the duration of immobility times in the FST in mice 30 min after treatment.
