Abstract
A new equalization scheme is proposed for time varying HF channels. Using a blind channel estimation algorithm, the new approach estimates the channel impulse response directly without relying on the probe. The advantage of the new scheme is twofold. First, it improves the transmission efficiency by eliminating part or even all the probe symbols. Second, it avoids the propagation of channel estimation error of conventional schemes. Simulation results are presented for the testing scenario of MIL-STD-188.
