Abstract
This paper has shown the usefulness of electromagnetic modeling for helping determine and analyze the various types of potential RF coupling paths to aircraft navigation and communications antennas from internal cavities with apertures. Both MoM and FDTD were used for modeling different effects on the aircraft. While no practical models of the entire aircraft are possible with today´s technology over the entire frequency range of interest (above 1 GHz), portions of the aircraft can be conveniently modelled and individual effects analyzed. An extremely important point was demonstrated by using modeling to simulate individual aspects of the overall problem, This allowed individual effects to be analyzed separately, and even physical measurement effects can be removed from the overall data analysis. This allows much more focused analysis than is possible with only measured data
