Abstract :
To track the gaze, it is necessary to detect the center of the pupil if the eye image is from the input camera. The pupil´s center is detected using the three-step hierarchy system. First, the face region is detected using the Haar-like feature detection scheme, and then the eye region is detected within the face region using the template-based scheme. Finally, pupil movement is detected within the eye region using the horizontal and vertical histogram profiling. When detecting the eye gaze on the screen, the information (the distance and angle between eyes and a screen) is necessary to compute pointing coordinates on the screen. In this paper, a pointing scheme based on eye movement and pupil detection is proposed. The scheme in successfully applied to point a gazed region in the screen divided into 6, 12 and 24 sections.
