Abstract :
On Dec. 15, 2006 Chinese MOF issued a set of new accounting standards (new CAS). The new CAS is regarded to be converging to international accounting standards and supposed to be more value-relevant. Does the New CAS is more value-relevant or has incremental explanation power to firmspsila value as expected? We use the unique data from CSRC and find that new CAS has more explanation power and the difference between the new and the old CAS has incremental information content. This incremental information comes from the substantial impact of new CAS instead of presentation impact.
