Abstract
This paper presents a new approach to design power system stabiliser (PSS) for the enhancement of synchronous generator oscillations. Conventional PSS design heavily requires specific knowledge and expert´s experience, whereas the proposed approach is more systematic. It contains and is aided by the Genetic Algorithms (GAs). At the end of this paper, computer simulations of the PSS incorporated with a single machine infinite bus (SMIB) power system would demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed method.
