Abstract :
The characteristics of the zigzag antenna on a portable radio equipment are investigated. The far field pattern, near field pattern, and the input impedance of the zigzag antenna with different axial lengths are calculated. The wire-grid model, which replaced the conducting surface with a wire mesh, is used. The current distribution along the antenna as well as on the portable body is determined using the method of moments. The use of the zigzag antenna can reduce the length of the antenna and the current flowing along the body of the handset and improve the impedance matching to the feed line of the antenna.
