Abstract :
The concept of fuzzy inference was applied in the head seek control system of a rigid disk drive, and the access performance was improved. In open-loop, bang-bang driving control, a quasi-fuzzy inference rule was established, based on the relation between the moving distance and acceleration command time. The acceleration of the minimum deviation of the moving distance was inferred. Changes in the actuator coil resistance, due to temperature, can be compensated for by varying the rule. Experimental results using this seek control method are presented
