Abstract :
The experiments of proton radiography using ultraintense laser and tandem accelerator were performed. The radiographic phantoms were designed by using SRIM code, and then were fabricated with Mylar and polyethylene film. The maximum energy of protons generated in ultraintense laser experiment was about 9 MeV, and that of protons generated in tandem accelerator experiment were 1.8 MeV. A CR-39 Solid State Nuclear Track Detector (SSNTD) was used as a radiography screen. The digital images were obtained by using an optical microscope and evaluated by using the modulation transfer function (MTF). As a result of this study, proton radiography using ultraintense laser looks better performance in compared with that using tandem accelerator because of energy characteristics of the protons generated from ultraintense laser.
