Abstract :
In the structural analysis of trusses, there are graphical methods such as the method of joins and the method of sections. A geometrical reasoning method for structures based on these graphical methods is presented. It is shown that the method can solve the example of N. Henneberg (1886), which cannot be solved by the graphical methods. The method proposed can be used for the inference engine for qualitative reasoning about mechanical systems and for an intelligent computer-aided design system
