Abstract :
A new single input multiple output (SIMO) precoding technique is proposed to mitigate polarization mode dispersion (PMD) in optical channels. The proposed scheme is based on the SIMO characteristics of the PMD-limited channel and optimizes the performance at the input of receiver by jointly pre-equalizing the PMD-limited channel at the transmitter on both polarization modes simultaneously. The technique is compared with existing PMD compensation techniques in performance and complexity
