Abstract :
Performance of the time domain equalizer (TDE) based on the minimum-mean-square-error (MMSE) criterion in a discrete multitone (DMT) modulation system is presented. A new criterion, the shortening signal-to-noise-ratio (SSNR) criterion, is used to investigate the performance difference of the TDE under two optimized constraints (the unit tap constraint and the unit energy constraint). The variation of the information transmission rate after the TDE being introduced is studied. Finally, the effect of the bandwidth optimization of the system on the output SNR of the TDE is carefully examined
