Abstract :
The authors describe a hierarchical structured approach based on Petri nets for knowledge-base construction and validation. Low-level models of elementary structures of discrete-time control systems, like mechanical and electronic switches, are used to construct a global Petri net system model. The mathematical formalisms of Petri nets are applied to construct production rules directly from the incidence matrix that describes the Petri net. The software tools developed to accomplish this methodology are also described
