Abstract
This paper presents an adaptive error concealment algorithm for MPEG-2 video communications. Based on the coded frame type (I, P, B) and predictive error, error concealment methods (spatial interpolation, temporal replacement, and temporal replacement with motion compensation) are applied adaptively. This algorithm requires small computation and does not depend upon the encoder to provide additional information. Simulation results show it is quite effective, especially at scene changes
