Abstract
This paper discusses the difficulty of making meaningful shielding effectiveness measurements and the usefulness of shielding performance measurements for EMI shielded enclosures. Successful shielding performance measurements require a physically small and repeatable source. Experiences with an optically isolated spherical dipole radiator for shielding performance measurements is discussed. EMI modeling of the shielding performance of a typical PC-style enclosure is used to validate the measured shielding performance with the spherical dipole radiator
