  • Abstract
The dynamic characteristics of an attractive-type magnetic levitation system with 3φ AC electromagnets are investigated. The system has iron rails with primary windings on the ground and levitation magnets with secondary windings placed on the levitated object. By detecting the gap between the secondary magnet and rail, the object can be levitated stably by feedback control of the magnetic coupling with primary windings. A dynamic characteristic of the AC levitation system is analyzed, and transfer functions of the system are given. To investigate the validity of the analysis, an experiment has been performed, and experimental results agreed well with analytical results. Stability characteristics of the system are also discussed based on the experimental and analytical results
