  • Abstract
In industrialised countries, the combustion of carbon is increasing which leads to increasing problems of air pollution. This is why intensive research is underway to study the production of carbon suspensions in oil or water. We propose in this study to produce suspension of carbon as concentrated as possible (>60%), stable and sufficiently fluid for pouring in pipe lines. It is, in these conditions, indispensable to master the stability and the fluidity of the suspensions. The parameters which intervene are numerous: the cut of the particles, the fraction of solid dispersion, the forces of interaction between the particles and the carbon and water, the concentration of electrolyte, the nature and concentration of surfactant or polyelectrolyte stability, the degree of purity of carbon and the pH of the suspension. We have also implemented in this study a technique to measure the stability and viscosity of very concentrated suspensions
