Abstract
We have reported previously on measurements of surface potential of Teflon-FEP foils charged by the impulse method (up to 2 kV peak and ~1 microsecond rise time) in a planar geometry. In this work, we propose a model that explains those results, based on Townsend´s pre-discharge theory in the air gap. The numerical results are in good agreement with experimental results for air gaps from 20 and 80 μm
