Abstract :
The dilemma of cardiovascular disease in India is staggering, accounting for over 3 million annual deaths. A majority of India´s population is rural and lacks adequate medical facilities for maintenance of cardiac health. Three main barriers of rural healthcare penetration in India include socioeconomic challenges, shortage of medical expertise, and underdeveloped infrastructure. In this paper we present possible solutions to mitigate these barriers, including wireless ECG recording for arrhythmia diagnosis, remote patient monitoring and temporary pacing for acute medical conditions.
