Abstract
An alternative approach to the communications interface of microprocessor-controlled remote units aimed to minimize cost and complexity is suggested for systems requiring short, unscheduled interactions. The hardware design of the proposed interface, as implemented for an MC68000 assembler code and flow-chart form, is discussed. A point-of-scale application for the interface is introduced and its limitations are pointed out
