            Abstract :
The authors present the design and implementation of the enhanced video driver (EVD), a display handler to be used on IBM personal computers equipped with an IBM color graphics adapter (CGA). Once activated, this software resides permanently in memory and, effectively, becomes a part of the operating system. The EVD provides the user with a virtual video buffer which is more than three times larger than the video memory supplied by the CGA. It also contains the handler for a full set of functions that allows the users to access this buffer using interrupt calls in exactly the same way they access the video memory using the ROM-BIOS video services. A high-level language interface is also designed to enable the not-so-technical user to use this driver
