General Purpose Combined Optical-Wireless ZigBee Sensor Networks

There are many possible practical ways to enhance wireless ZigBeetrade sensor networks with optical highways, like increasing the effective operational area, achieving greater robustness by introducing redundant interconnections, doing remote monitoring or increasing the security of a network. This article examines these usage scenarios with regard to optical and network performance.
